Messi off to a flyer for Barca

-

LIONEL MESSI scored the eighth Champions League hat-trick of his career as 10-man Barcelona eased to an emphatic 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven in Group B.

The Argentine opened the scoring with a fantastic free-kick in the 32nd minute. Ousmane Dembele made it two after a great drag back and turn 15 minutes from time.

Messi got his second and Barca’s third goal two minutes later, turning Ivan Rakitic’s dinked pass into the near corner with one flick of his boot and then completed his treble in the 87th minute, receiving another chipped pass, this time from Luis Suarez, and ruthlessly smashing home.

Jadon Sancho became the youngest Englishman to take his Champions League debut for a foreign club when he started for Dortmund against Club Brugge in Group A.

The 18-year-old has provided four assists for the German side this season but it was another of their young stars who was the hero, Christian Pulisic nicking the winner with five minutes to go.

In the other game in Group A, Diego Costa scored as Atletico Madrid won 2-1 at Monaco.
