Blue Peter’s Bring & Buy sales return

- BY NICOLA METHVEN TV Editor

BLUE Peter is to hold its first Bring And Buy Sale in a decade, as the show celebrates its 60th anniversary.

Schools, community groups and scout clubs will be encouraged to organise jumble sales to raise funds for Children in Need.

Launched in 1979, Bring And Buy sales raised cash for global charities through the 80s and 90s. The most recent appeal was in 2008.

Blue Peter editor Ewan Vinnicombe said: “We’re in an age where Bring and Buys will be popular again.

“No one wants their toys to go to landfill – this is a good way to recycle them.”

“Get involved by manning a stall, donating things or volunteering.”

Blue Peter will mark 60 years on October 16 with a live two-hour BBC show.
