Father goes on TV to rubbish story
THE Russian father of the escort girl involved in the latest novichok panic has rubbished many of her claims.
Alexander Shapiro, 57, said daughter Anna is really named Yana. He also denied he was one of Vladimir Putin’s generals and said she could not be a Kremlin target as she has never been active in politics.
Mr Shapiro said on state TV: “My daughter has nothing to do with politics,
domestic or foreign. The rest is the fantasy of people who (want) a clash between states.”
Emergency services had feared another novichok incident in Salisbury, Wilts, after Anna, 30, and her partner Alex King, 42, went to hospital on Sunday after falling ill at the Prezzo restaurant. Police have now interviewed them over suspicions that it was a hoax. Anna, who has claimed that Kremlin assassins targeted her with rat poison, told friends recently that she was a “honeytrap spy” for Israeli spy agency Mossad.
