Fozzy has to grin ‘n’ bear draw

HOT FAVOURITE Son Of Rest has “the best of a bad bunch” in stall 17 for tomorrow’s Ayr Gold Cup, his trainer Fozzy Stack said yesterday.

The Irish raider, sponsor William Hill’s 5-1 favourite, is 10lb well in on official figures after his half-length second to Havana Grey in the Group 1 Flying Five Stakes at the Curagh last Sunday.

But, after yesterday mornings draw ceremony for the six-furlong cavalry charge, Stack said: “We were one of the last half dozen out, so we chose stall 17 - it’s the best of a bad bunch.

“At least Chris Hayes has options as to which side he races.”
