LANDLORD BROAD RARING TO GO
STUART BROAD insists there has been no talk about him being rested for the tour to Sri Lanka and says he is desperate to go.
Broad accepts that in spinfriendly conditions he may not play in all three Tests in November. But the seamer, 32, who is recovering from a fractured rib, rubbished suggestions he might be asked to skip the trip to be fresh for next summer’s Ashes.
“I’m very keen to be in Sri Lanka,” said Broad at the launch of his new gastropub the Tap and Run. “Whether I play or not while there is a different story. “Just like in football, rugby or any other sport, you pick the team that is best to win in those conditions. But I’m desperate to play as much as possible. Sri Lanka have opened with spin at home and the vast majority of overs are of spin.
“We are going to play three, maybe even four spinners so tactically it might be me that misses out or Chris Woakes (left) or Jimmy Anderson, but that is what we might have to do.”
