CAHILL: SORRY SARRI... I MAY HAVE TO QUIT
GARY CAHILL believes he may have to leave Chelsea in January as it is “difficult” to stay on the sidelines.
The defender opened up in a candid interview after being left on the bench for Chelsea’s
Europa League opener against PAOK Salonika.
Cahill (above) has yet to play this season after dropping down the pecking order under Maurizio Sarri.
The Blues stalwart understands why he has struggled for game time, having returned late after the World Cup.
But having been a regular for most of his Chelsea career and won everything since joining in 2012, that realisation has not made being out of favour any easier to take.
Cahill, 32, who will see his Blues deal expire next summer, said: “I don’t want to jump the gun, but as things stand at this time, probably, yes I will leave.
“Having been a big part of things for six, seven years and played a huge part, not just a squad player, I’m finding it difficult this year to deal with.”
