Aubameyang’s offside goal a FLIPPING disgrace

- BY JOHN CROSS

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG scored the goal which clinched Arsenal’s fourth win on the spin – but Everton boss Marco Silva couldn’t believe it was allowed to stand. Silva admitted his frustration after an incredible mistake by referee Jon Moss and his officials. TV replays showed Aubameyang – who did a front flip to celebrate his goal – was clearly offside (left). The Everton boss said: “It’s really frustrating. We have, in that moment, just

one player in our box. It’s too clear to the assistant. That moment was really hard for us.

“He’s clearly offside. For me, it’s a little bit strange but it’s OK. I make mistakes too. The assistant referees can make them as well.

“It was really hard for us because we were in control of the game at that point. They scored a great goal to take the lead, but we were going to go until the end to try to make it 1-1 for sure.

“As soon as possible, maybe next season, we should have VAR here.”

Aubameyang scored the hosts’ second goal after Alexandre Lacazette had given Unai Emery and his men the lead.

Silva (left) bemoaned his team’s luck after Arsenal keeper Petr Cech denied Everton with a string of brilliant saves.

He added: “Clearly, we didn’t deserve this result. We deserved more.”
