MILLS HOPES TO SEE LOCAL BOON
WIDNES legend Jim Mills has urged the club to restore local pride as they look to recover from relegation.
Saturday’s Qualifiers defeat to Toronto Wolfpack condemned the Vikings to the Championship next year after seven years in the top flight.
Mills told Mirror Sport: “In the past, successful Widnes sides have been made up of local players but there doesn’t seem to be the same feeling in the team now - they need to put the spirit and fight back.”
Joe Mellor will join Toronto, hooker Danny Walker is also expected to leave and several overseas players will depart.
