‘Ditch weak rape cases’

PROSECUTORS have been urged to drop weak rape cases to boost conviction rates, it is claimed.

Crown Prosecution Service chiefs are reported to have asked specialist staff to change approach.

But the CPS said that was “completely untrue”.

Campaigners fear a shift could mean fewer charges in cases involving younger victims or those with mental health problems.
