Katie’s finally cracked

Whatever you think of Katie Price and her antics over the years, it is desperately sad that she’s now sunk so low she is in rehab following repeated drink and drug binges.

Katie has done little to help herself – and much to damage herself and her relationship with her five children.

Her poorly mother Amy has blamed the exes who’ve used Katie to build their own profile then goaded her into bad behaviour. And while none of this excuses what she’s done – I do think it explains some of it. Katie dropped her alter ego of Jordan a long time ago now. But the ghost of Jordan has continued to haunt her.

For two decades she has been a national talking point. She’s careered from one disastrous relationship to another while trying to raise a family and sustain a career under the glare of TV cameras. She has been unable to quit her cracklike addiction to publicity.

This collapse has been a long time coming.

Whether a very different Katie – or Jordan – emerges from it, remains to be seen.

It’s a strange coincidence that that other 6 1990s celebrity screw-up Danniella Westbrook has been back in the news revealing she has cancer. Danniella has abused her body, her life, her relationships and her friends for decades – much the same as Katie. How tragic it’s taken this to make her realise, “I want to live”.
