“Staying stylish and within the law is no mean feat,” says Joanna as she arrives in Iran, a country that requires women to cover their heads by law.

The only answer for Joanna is to hit the shops.

It’s a wonderful start to this episode, especially when she discovers that her chosen scarf is made by a certain fabulous designer. “Lacroix, sweetie, Lacroix!” she exclaims, giving us all a nostalgic thrill. The actress is intent on discovering more about the people who live in Iran, a country that was pivotal to the silk road. Once the heart of mighty Persia, it’s now very rarely visited by Westerners. “We never see the beauty,” she says.

Going behind the news headlines, Joanna meets everyone from a movie star, known as Iran’s Brad Pitt, to one of the country’s top social media influencers. She also visits a Temple of Fire and the mysterious Towers of Silence.
