TIGER’S ON A TICKET TO RYDER

- FROM NEIL McLEMAN in Paris

TIGER WOODS has warned Europe he is on a mission to end his Ryder Cup drought.

The American superstar, who won his first event in five years at the Tour Championship on Sunday, has not tasted victory in the Ryder Cup since 1999. Woods (right) also has a losing individual record in his seven appearances and acknowledged: “Of those seven previous Ryder Cups, I’ve sat out one session and that was the

TYRRELL HATTON wants to channel his passion like Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter after the rookie admitted he has cringed at some of his own “stupid” behaviour. The world No.26 (above) is renowned for his volcanic temper, and will partner his fellow Englishman in the World Cup together in Australia in November. The fiery pair practised together yesterday and could team up again on Friday. “If we were to play together this week, then it would be pretty special,” he said. “He’s a Ryder Cup legend, and me being a rookie and all this being new to me, it would be good to obviously gets some experience. “I get on with Poults really well. We’ve been out for dinner a few times this year, so we’ve spoken about a few things. He obviously does a very good job of managing his passion, so it’s something I can learn from and hopefully get better at.”

Hatton added: “I’m going to be passionate. I can only be myself. But saying that, I need to stay as level-headed as possible.

“In the past, you’d say I’ve lost golf tournaments from getting in my own way.

“I will agree with Jon Rahm, saying you need to grow up. Obviously people say at times we’re role models, for kids watching on TV.

“If I look back and I know I’ve been bad, you’re at home cringing on the sofa watching it, I’m exactly the same watching myself be stupid. It’s not great.”

Thomas Bjorn, who slammed the 2006 Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam after he was left off the team, said: “I see a lot of myself in him.”

Poulter, who returns to the team after serving as a vice-captain in 2016, said: “I’m even more excited today than I was when I made my debut in 2004.”
