Who will be a monster hit!

Why new Doctor will have you hiding behind the sofa

Doctor Who: The Woman Who Fell To Earth So will viewers like Jodie Whittaker’s version of the Doctor? The short answer is, yes.

The 13th Time Lord bursts forth in Sheffield in clothes worn by her predecessor and without her Tardis or Sonic screwdriver. Eeek!

But she just gets on with it – and boy, is there a lot to get on with.

With boundless energy the new doctor manages to be funny, heroic, confused and dynamic by turn.

Even in her gadget-free state, everyone who comes into contact with the new Doctor quickly realises they are way better off with her on their side. Why? Because she’s a very clever alien.

Along with the all the fun and banter, Doctor Who needs both scariness and weirdness. There is plenty, thanks to the first monsters the Doc has to face in her new body.

No spoilers (BBC bosses might send the horrible things round to my house) but let’s just say one in particular is shockingly macabre.

It will have kids diving behind the sofa as fast as you can say “that’s what I did in 1976”.

Watch out for when she chooses her new costume. It’s brilliant. And also look out for the welding scene – a must for Flashdance fans.

Jodie’s Time Lord is a force of nature. If X Factor legend Louis Walsh was reviewing this, he’d no doubt insist she had the likeability factor. And he’d be absolutely right.
