Ryanair face strike action compo clash
RYANAIR is refusing to pay compensation to passengers for the 190 flights it has cancelled due to strike action tomorrow.
The staff walkout across Europe was announced on Tuesday this week.
But the budget airline claims that three days’ notice is sufficient because the cancellation is “beyond the airline’s control”.
It added: “If these strikes, by a tiny minority of crew, were within Ryanair’s control, there would be no strikes and cancellations.”
However the Civil Aviation Authority has warned that under EU law an airline must pay up for strikes by its own staff, or give two weeks’ notice.
Up to 30,000 passengers will be affected. It is not known how many flights are to or from the UK.
