CR-V FOR VOLTAGE

-

Honda is fitting a hybrid powertrain to its CR-V SUV for the first time. The system comprises of a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a pair of electric motors.

One drives the wheels when the car is in EV Drive mode and is supplied by a lithium ion battery.

The other is a combined generator/motor and is powered by the petrol engine when the vehicle is in Hybrid Drive mode.

The third mode is Engine Drive in which the engine – via a lock-up clutch mechanism – drives the wheels directly. The price will be announced when the CR-V hybrid goes on sale next month.
