In Jo’s memory, let’s build that better world
THE mother of Jo Cox breaks down in tears at an emotional ceremony to name a square in Brussels after the murdered Labour MP.
Clutching white roses, Gordon and Jean Leadbeater heard Jeremy Corbyn pay tribute to their girl, who lived in the Belgian capital for six years before entering Parliament.
The Labour leader said she had “lived her life to make lives better for everyone else”.
And he pleaded: “In her memory let’s build that better world.”
The mumof-two, 41, was killed by neo-Nazi terrorist Thomas Mair in 2016.
Her sister Kim Leadbeater remembered Jo for her “compassion” and “kindness”.
Mayor of Brussels Philippe Close said Jo was “always pursuing the emancipation of the most disadvantaged”.
She had died for her “ideas of peace, solidarity and tolerance”.
