Landlord is a life saver for heart victim
A PUB landlord saved a man’s life...then served him a Sunday roast with all the trimmings four days later.
Stephen Laing rushed to help when Derek Harrison fell and hit his head as he went into cardiac arrest.
He said: “I had to stem the bleeding before anything else. I checked his pulse and he was only just with us.”
Stephen started chest compressions while Derek’s wife fetched a defibrillator from outside the Queen’s Head in Layham, Suffolk. Medics arrived and took control.
Four days later Derek returned from hospital to thank the landlord – and have lunch. Stephen said: “I told him ‘You look a lot taller than the last time I saw you’ and he laughed.”
