ENERGY FIRMS RAPPED

-

Watchdogs have ordered 11 of Britain’s biggest energy suppliers to improve their complaints handling.

Ofgem told the firms to buck up their ideas after finding more than half of customers weren’t happy with how their issue was dealt with. It came as the regulator opened compliance cases into three companies – First Utility, Ovo Energy and Utilita – and expanded an existing case with ScottishPower.

Seven other suppliers – British Gas, Npower, Utility Warehouse, SSE, EDF Energy, E.on and Co-operative Energy – must improve complaints handling.

Ofgem’s bi-yearly survey found 57% of customers weren’t satisfied with how their complaint had been dealt with.
