Joka tells ‘Harry’ to home in

- BY MATTHEW DUNN

IF 15-YEAR-OLD Harvey Elliott thought he had made a name for himself by becoming Fulham’s youngest-ever player on Tuesday he could not be more wrong.

Craven Cottage boss Slavisa Jokanovic promptly referred to him as “Harry” throughout his regular weekly press conference at Motspur Park as he looked ahead to the Premier League trip to Everton.

Furthermore, he made it clear Elliott’s nine-minute cameo in the 3-1 win against Millwall is unlikely to lead to much any time soon.

The Serb is adamant his young player (above) should concentrate on his homework instead.

“I’m thinking about Everton, not about ‘Harry’ Elliott,” said Jokanovic. “Now he must be thinking about homework and working with Fulham, and I’ll try to find a space for working with him.

“I don’t want to talk about big benefits for the player – it’s only 10 minutes in his life. We expect there’s going to be more important afternoons for him in a Fulham shirt.

“Sometimes I must protect young players. It’s better, especially for him, that he’s focused on daily work and daily life, and what’s ahead of him.

“So today he’s in school. I don’t want anybody to be confused about this.”

Elliott became the youngest player in League Cup history at 15 years and 174 days and the first player in senior English football born in 2003.
