Sad Tories utterly lost

-

THE Tories gather for their conference tomorrow in a sorry state.

A party supposedly running the country is deeply split over Brexit, bereft of fresh ideas and in denial about the state of public services.

In contrast with the bold agenda outlined by Jeremy Corbyn, the Conservatives have nothing new to say when it comes to tackling inequality, improving our schools and hospitals or fixing the housing crisis.

This is a party out of touch and out of steam. No doubt there will be a fake show of support for Theresa May.

But no amount of synthetic fawning and orchestrated applause can disguise the fact this is a weak PM living on borrowed time.

Her rivals know this too and will be using the gathering as a leadership beauty pageant.

Boris Johnson yesterday repeatedly refused to rule out challenging Mrs May for her job.

At a time when we are crying out for leadership and a steady hand to steer us through Brexit, the Conservatives are once again putting their own selfish interests ahead of those of the people they are supposed to serve.
