LUNT ‘SWEET’ AS HE BATTLES INFECTION

- BY GARETH WALKER

HULL KINGSTON ROVERS captain Shaun Lunt has tweeted that he “will be sweet” after being hospitalised with a “serious infection” this week. Former Huddersfield and Leeds hooker Lunt will not feature in Rovers’ bid to secure their Super League status after being taken ill on Thursday. But he posted an update on Twitter yesterday saying he had “finally had a shower” and that “I just need a few more coffees and I’ll be doing cartwheels out of here”. The club statement read: “Lunt was taken into hospital yesterday and is currently being treated whilst undergoing further tests, with the club’s medical staff and player welfare manager closely supporting Shaun and his family.

“The infection will rule the Robins skipper out of this Sunday’s clash with Widnes Vikings at KCOM Craven Park and next week’s Million Pound Game should the club feature in that match.”

Lunt, who was a member of Leeds’ Grand Final-winning team in 2012 and played for England while at Huddersfield, has made just 16 appearances this season after struggling with shoulder and knee problems throughout the year.
