DURM: IT WAS SO MUCH WORSE AT DORTMUND

- BY MIKE WHALLEY

ERIK DURM insists that being bottom of the Premier League with Huddersfield does not scare him – having been in a much tighter spot at Borussia Dortmund under Jurgen Klopp.

The German right-back, 26, is set for his Terriers home debut today against a Tottenham side who look to be finding their feet again after defeats by Watford and Liverpool.

Durm, signed from Dortmund in July, is under pressure to make a quick impact, with Huddersfield winless and with only one home league goal since February 11.

But the defender, fit again after a year-long battle with hip and ankle problems, felt the heat much more when much-fancied Dortmund were bottom of the Bundesliga with just 15 games left during Klopp’s final season. The future Liverpool boss then pulled out nine wins to drag his side up to seventh, and Durm (right) believes Huddersfield have to show the same spirit under boss David Wagner, Klopp’s best mate.

Durm, an unused sub when Germany won the 2014 World Cup, said: “It is not nice to be bottom of the table but I had it before at Dortmund.

“In the winter time we were 18th. It was a horrible situation so I know how it feels. It was even worse than it is now for Huddersfield because no one in Germany expected it. But it changed. That is what everyone has to remember. It can change.”
