WISDOM

- Murrihy’s reply – Australian chief steward Ray being asked in the Kieren Fallon trial after to have a whether Daring Aim was said “whirling tail”.

THE one thing you’ve got going in your favour when betting in the Cheveley Park Stakes is that you’ve got more chance of backing a winner than you have in the Cambridgeshire.

I can see plenty of punters attempting to boost their bank by backing Michael Bell’s Pretty Pollyanna, the only filly in the field with a Group 1 success to her name.

She looks a classy type and, although very much the one to beat, I would rather have the field against her than back her around the even-money mark.

There are at least four who can beat Pretty Pollyanna and SIGNORA CABELLO looks the most likely.

The pair were clear of the field in the Prix Morny when Signora Cabello looked like she was about to pull away from Pretty Pollyanna with a furlong to go, only for the favourite to fight back and finish a length clear at the finish.

You could easily argue that had Signora Cabello timed her run a little later then she would have beaten Pretty Pollyanna, a tactic jockey Frankie Dettori is likely to deploy this time around. Signora Cabello already has four career wins already to her name, including Group 2 contests at both Ascot and Maisons-Laffitte. If GAMBLING she doesn’t win she’s sure to give a very good account of herself. But this is far from a two-horse race. Only a fool would ignore the threat of Aidan O’Brien, who has won the last two renewals. The master of Ballydoyle has three in the field, Fairyland, So Perfect and Gossamer Wings. Fairyland won the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York last month, while So Perfect registered a superb second up against the boys in the Phoenix Stakes. Both horses look decent each-way bets but I’ll be putting my faith (and several pounds) on Frankie to stalk Pretty Pollyanna, time his challenge to perfection and bag the victory on Signora Cabello.
