874-mile ride on Boris bike

A FUNDRAISER cycled from John O’Groats to Land’s End on a Boris bike.

Baz Bignell, 26, who usually uses the public hire bicycles in London, did the 874-mile trip in 15 days.

The business manager said: “I sprinted the last bit as I needed a cold beer.”

Santander, which sponsors the scheme, donated two bikes to Baz who raised £5,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The bicycle is 3st heavier than an average road bike and has only three gears.
