Tactless note over wine lost on the Titanic

She faces life sentence after confession

SORRY Deaths are ignored A LETTER from the Titanic’s shipping company apologisin­g for a lost wine delivery after the liner sank has been discovered.

The note from the White Star Line, dated April 16, 1912, does not mention the 1,503 people who drowned when the ship hit an iceberg a day earlier in the freezing North Atlantic.

The tactless missive spent decades in a drawer at wine merchants’ Berry Bros & Rudd who lost 69 cases of wine and spirits.

Creative director Geordie Willis said: “The letter will be kept as part of the company’s history.”

A GIRLS’ football coach faces life in prison after she admitted murdering a teenager 14 years ago.
