GERS NOT IN LAND OF THE LIVING

-

LINESMAN Calum Spence was hit by an object thrown from the crowd as RANGERS crashed 1-0 at LIVINGSTON.

Play was stopped early in the second half for Spence to receive treatment.

Steven Gerrard’s visitors were sunk by Dolly Menga’s 34th-minute strike (above), which moved Livingston up to third behind Hibernian and leaders Hearts.

Rangers are stuck in sixth and Gerrard said: “We could still be playing for a couple of days – I don’t think we’d have scored. Credit to Livingston, they deserved it.”

Scott Sinclair admitted his first Parkhead goal since January came as a major relief after his backheeled finish earned CELTIC a 1-0 win over ABERDEEN.

Sinclair had only scored twice in his previous 31 matches before coming off the bench for the injured Odsonne Edouard.

But he showed his confidence had not been dented when he netted cleverly in the 63rd minute.

Sinclair said: “It’s a big relief. The pressure’s building and it’s great for us to get three points and get back to winning ways.”

HEARTS boss Craig Levein watched his team maintain their five-point lead at the top of the table with a 2-1 win over ST JOHNSTONE, but knows the margin should have been higher.

The home side were in control after Peter Haring and Jimmy Dunne scored either side of the break but Saints reduced the arrears through Ross Callachan.

Levein said: “It could have been easier had we been a bit more accurate in front of goal.”

KILMARNOCK boss Steve Clarke praised his side for coming from behind to beat MOTHERWELL 3-1.

He said: “There’s a good shape to the team at the moment but we’re not getting carried away. We’ve got a tough game against Dundee next week.”
