A woman and two children run past burning vehicles and debris during a riot on Princes Road in Toxteth, Liverpool. The violence was sparked by the arrest of four local black men in connection with a stabbing. The Merseyside Police Operational Support Division was deployed to restore order, but were later slammed by community leaders for their “over zealous and provocative tactics” including the drumming of batons on riot shields.
