NOW IT’S UNCIVIL WAR...

Johnson torments May with photo stunt as he steps up bid to topple her

- BY BEN GLAZE FULL STORY: PAGES 6&7

BORIS Johnson yesterday mocks Theresa May’s claims about running through wheat fields as a naughty youngster by jogging in one himself.

His calculated bid to humiliate the PM will be seen as part of his attempts to topple her in their civil war over Brexit.

But a top Tory said of Johnson’s No10 dream: “I don’t expect it to happen.”

BUNGLING Chris Grayling was ridiculed for promising “quicker” refunds for delayed rail passengers, but no end to the travel chaos.

The Transport Secretary said rail passengers who suffer delays will be helped to seek compensation via a “one-click” system.

But he was criticised for offering “nothing” to tackle the underlying problems causing frequent nightmare journeys for millions of rail passengers.

Shadow Transport Secretary Andy McDonald said: “After eight years of failure on transport, the time for tink-

ering at the edges is over. Rail is in chaos and the Tories’ oneclick compensation plans are yet another cheap gimmick... “[It] does nothing to tackle the underlying problems causing misery to passengers across the country.” Mr Grayling said passengers registered on the new system would not have to repeatedly enter details every time they want to make a claim.

New operators would also be expected to make greater use of technology, such as mobile phone apps, to inform passengers when they are entitled to compensation.

Arriving on stage seven minutes behind schedule, Mr Grayling admitted to delegates: “Trains are packed, the network is creaking, passengers experience too many things going wrong.

“Today, I can announce that we will introduce one-click compensation for delays and disruption…”
