-

has described the moment six nurses “tackled” her to the ground threatening to section her, after she chucked a water cooler through a hospital window.

The singer, 33, writes in her memoirs about experiencing a breakdown in November 2016.

Lily, who was dating grime artist at the time, describes a row with her ex-husband over him dating again as “the straw that broke the camel’s back”.

In her book, Lily tells of being on medication at a mental health hospital after “selfharming, ADMISSION Lily Allen has said nurses had to subdue her

smashing glass [and] screaming”.

She now tells Cosmopolitan magazine: “When I feel that the people I trust most have betrayed that [trust], my whole world falls out from underneath me.” Staff at the Nightingale hospital had her “pinned down on the floor”, but Lily admits: “I picked up a water cooler and threw it through the window.

“Dan said six nurses tackled me to the floor and they had the needle out and were about to knock me out and sedate me.

“Once the needle goes in, you’re sectioned. [Dan] had to fight with them not to do it.”

In her book, Lily says she began to start feeling “empowered” following her breakdown and during her recovery.

The full interview appears in the November 2018 issue of Cosmopolitan, on sale tomorrow. Anyone struggling with mental health issues can contact the Samaritans 24 hour helpline on 116 123.
