The old adage about the law in this country being an ass could not be more true when it comes to David Beckham getting off a speeding fine because of a late delivery of a document. It makes my blood boil that if you have money you can get away with anything.

When I was caught speeding I had to take a speed awareness course lasting four hours or accept three points on my licence and a £100-plus fine just for being 3mph over the speed limit.

That these so-called celebs can exploit the law just because they are rich is diabolical and should be addressed. Also, I don’t know how Nick ‘Mr Loophole’ Freeman can sleep at night. Phill Prescott, Waterloo, Liverpool

So, a smirking David Beckham thinks that it is acceptable to smile after his expensive lawyer, Nick Freeman has got him off a driving conviction on a minor technicali­ty. Beckham is not denying the offence, but used the fact that the letter informing him of the charge arrived a day too late. This is a man who has for so long been held up as an example to us all.
