Pole star says Leeds paying price for wasting chances to score
Hull v Leeds Kick-off, 7.45pm
MATEUSZ KLICH says Leeds need a morale booster against Hull tonight.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men were knocked off the top of the Championship by West Brom on Saturday.
Losing to Birmingham then a draw with Sheffield Wednesday, despite having “14-15 chances”, has allowed rivals to catch up.
The Poland midfielder (above) scored at Hillsborough on Friday and believes the Hull derby is an ideal chance to get back on track.
He said: “You could see our faces – we weren’t happy. We were disappointed because we had about 14 chances and should have scored a second goal and won the game.
“It is very important because after the game against Birmingham we wanted to win [against Wednesday] and we should have – especially in the second half when we were really good.
“We need to score more goals. We got one against Sheffield and one against Birmingham. Before, we were scoring a lot. After 10 games of the season, this is my best start. But it is not only me.
“A lot of players have started very well this season, as a team we play good. Now we need to win again.” Bielsa wants his side to be more ruthless, saying: “We had 15 chances to score last game, if we had kept the finishing average we had before we would have scored four goals.
“The leading teams in all competitions, usually they need three chances to score.
“If you are efficient then you can lead the table, even if you’re not a big team. Efficiency is very important.”
