STEVE BRUCE admits he is desperate to get Jonathan Kodjia firing again.

Ivory Coast hitman Kodjia excelled in Villa boss Bruce’s first season with 20 goals.

But the £15million man has since been a shadow of his former self. And Bruce, who knows the importance of victory over bottom club Preston, said: “He is going through a spell where nothing is quite going for him.

“He had a wonderful year but that’s 18 months ago.

“The only way through this patch is to stay with it and find your own form.”
