‘Denying cop cuts impact is deluded’
THERESA May was slammed as “deluded” after claiming there was no direct link between police numbers and crime levels yesterday.
Police Federation of England and Wales chairman John Apter accused the Prime Minister of “misleading the public” with her statement in an ITV News interview.
He said: “The demand [we] are facing is unprecedented. When I hear the Prime Minister say there is no correlation between the drop in officer numbers and the increase in crime... she’s deluded.” He added that Tory austerity had “gone too far” and policing is “in crisis”.
