Hedgehogs’ hole petition

HEDGEHOG highways should be built into all new estates to stop them dying out, an ecologist says.

Hugh Warwick has started a petition asking for 13cm holes in the bottom of fences.

Mr Warwick hopes they will let the creatures scuttle between gardens so they can find food.

He has 64,000 signatures so far and said: “We can’t get rid of fences of fields but we can provide a way for wildlife to move through the environment.”
