TRIBUTE Peggy Sue THE woman who inspired Buddy Holly’s 1957 worldwide hit song Peggy Sue has died aged 78.

Texan Peggy Sue Gerron, who was at Holly’s school, got knocked over by him on his way to a gig.

Gerron told the BBC: “He ran over to me, guitar in one hand, amp in the other, and said, ‘I don’t have time to pick you up, but you sure are pretty’, before he ran off.”

She was dating schoolmate Jerry Allison, Holly’s drummer in The Crickets, who she went on to wed.

That inspired the star to follow up his love ballad with Peggy Sue Got Married. It was released after Holly’s death in a plane crash in 1959.

She died in her home town of Lubbock, Texas. MODELS enjoy a day at the beach as global brand Chanel turns its catwalk into a boardwalk.

Head designer Karl Lagerfeld made a real splash at Paris Fashion Week with his Californian look – right down to Baywatch icon Pamela Anderson as special guest.

The mum-of-two messaged Karl to say “J’Adore” after the show.

And, though the 51-year-old star had swapped her red swimsuit for a blouse, she still looked sandsome.
