Survivor of suicide pact is locked up

TRAGIC Rogers & Jennifer A TERMINALLY ill man has been jailed after he killed his wife but survived their suicide pact.

Parkinson’s sufferer Peter Rogers, 62, and his devoted wife Jennifer, 56, had travelled the world until their money ran out and pledged to end their lives together.

The couple, who had sold up in South Africa, were staying at a holiday let in Penzance, Cornwall, Truro crown court heard.

Rogers stabbed his wife to death but recovered from his own knife injuries.

The court heard that he said: “She’s been so brave and I messed it up.”

The prosecution accepted Rogers’ admission of manslaughter.

He was sentenced to two and a half years and will serve 15 months.
