ONE-in-seven drivers dice with death at level crossings every day, shock research shows.

Nearly a third said getting to exams or hospital were the top reasons for not waiting for the half-barriers to rise before driving off .

Network Rail and British Transport Police have now launched a campaign to warn of the dangers.

The Grand Tour’s executive producer doesn’t think much of his audience. At a press day, Andy Wilman said the clip being used included words “because there’s a higher IQ in the room than our viewers” who just need cars and primary colours. The ex-Top Gear boss also said some episodes hadn’t worked and were like “fillers” on an album.

Bear Grylls is to front Eco-Challenge, a series charting the toughest global outdoor multisport endurance race. The 10-parter, for Amazon Prime, will see teams of four compete. The race lasts at least 10 days and if one persons quits, the entire team is disqualifi­ed. The series, by Emmy-winning producer Mark Burnett, airs early in 2020.
