Council court threat over 1p

A COUNCIL tax payer was threatened with legal action over a penny.

Julie Spry, 53, who “religiously” pays her monthly bill was baffled at a letter saying she owed 1p.

It was followed by a second from Vale of Glamorgan council threatening “further recovery action”.

Julie, of Barry, said: “It is ridiculous. Each letter cost several times the amount of the supposed debt.”

The council has apologised to her and blamed a computer software error.
