VALVERDE: WE MUST STOP KANE

- BY DARREN LEWIS

BARCELONA coach Ernesto Valverde has admitted his side must nullify Harry Kane to stop the rot.

The Spanish champions are winless in their last three games, including a defeat at La Liga strugglers Leganes.

Kane has netted five times in eight Spurs appearances this campaign to smash suggestions that he has lost his sparkle after a heavy workload last season and at the World Cup. Valverde (below) said: “We know Kane is a decisive player. We know his quality. What we want to do with our play is try to prevent seeing his best version at Wembley.”

Kane netted twice at Huddersfield on Saturday and again in the preceding Premier League game at Brighton. Barca midfielder Ivan Rakitic, who played for Croatia against England at the World Cup, admitted his out-of-form club side face a tough task. He said: “I have a lot of respect for Kane. “It was hard to play against him at the World Cup. We know he is a really big striker.”
