Sancho’s moving up

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

JADON SANCHO is set to continue his rise through the England ranks with a first Under-21 call up.

Gareth Southgate is expected to resist the clamour to include the Borussia Dortmund wonder kid in his senior squad for the upcoming games against Croatia and Spain.

But the 18-year-old – who yesterday signed a new four-year contract with Dortmund – is still in line for a promotion to Aidy Boothroyd’s Young Lions.

He has previously played for the U16, U17 and U19 sides, was named player of the tournament at last year’s U17 Euros, and helped England’s U17s win the World Cup.

Boothroyd’s side face Andorra and Scotland, and need just one more point to clinch their place at next summer’s Euro 2019.

The winger made his Champions League debut last month against Club Brugge, becoming the youngest Englishman to do so for a foreign club.
