ALL RIGHT FOR MONK & CO AFTER BEING IN THE RED
GARRY MONK did the walk of shame at Brentford after he was sent to the stands for protesting Maikel Kieftenbeld’s controversial red card.
The Birmingham boss lost the plot after Kieftenbeld was dismissed for an off-the-ball clash with Neal Maupay and forced to follow the midfielder down the tunnel.
Monk’s men had led through Michael Morrison’s 26th minute effort but Josh McEachran equalised from a free-kick before trouble flared on 66 minutes. Birmingham players were furious with referee Tim Robinson’s decision to give Kieftenbeld his marching orders, and Monk (right) was punished for taking the protests too far.
Morrison headed home from close range after a cross by the lively Jota.
But McEachran hit back for the home side just before half time with a curling free-kick that Lee Camp got a had to but couldn’t keep out.
Things looked bleak for Birmingham when Kieftenbeld was sent off – but the 10 men somehow clung on to stretch their unbeaten run to seven games.
