Fern and Phil at war over award
FERN Britton hit out at This Morning host Phillip Schofield claiming she was not invited to see the show pick up its 30th birthday BAFTA.
Fern, who co-hosted with Phil from 2002 to 2009, told him she had been “snubbed” from the awards on Monday, when the show got a special gong.
Speaking live by video link, Fern, 61, said: “Congrats on the BAFTA.
“That was absolutely wonderful and brilliant. I would have loved to have been there, but I didn’t get an invitation.”
Panicking, Phil, 56, said she was performing in Calendar Girls in Scotland at the time, but Fern replied: “I wasn’t on Monday night, I would have come, but I wasn’t invited.”
Later, Phil tweeted that she had been invited but declined. Fern again insisted she “had no invitation to decline”.
Her agent Troika Talent then admitted they had got the invite and as Fern was touring “assumed” she could not attend and declined on her behalf.
They tweeted “HUGE apologies” and said: “Fern had no idea she had been invited. Luckily, she has forgiven us.”
