REVEALING her goddaughte­r died of the disease, the PM pledged that by 2028, 55,000 more people will be alive five years after diagnosis than is the case today. The bowel cancer screening age will drop from 60 to 50 to boost the early detection rate from 50% to 75%. The NHS will invest in new scanners and Rapid Diagnostic Centres – “one stop-shops” for getting quicker treatment.
