VILLA SACK BRUCE... HENRY WANTS IT, TERRY RAFA ALSO TARGETS

- BY JAMES NURSEY

THIERRY HENRY wants the Aston Villa job but faces a nervous two-week wait to see if he lands the post.

Villa sacked Steve Bruce amid mounting fan fury after one win in 10 matches.

Owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have tasked

CEO Christian Purslow to secure a high-calibre boss before the visit of Swansea on October 20.

John Terry, who played for Villa last season and wants to move into management, is also in the frame.

Arsenal legend Henry was first considered when Villa were taken over in July at the same time as Henry left his TV job at Sky.

The club are also considering a move for Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez but his frosty relationship with Purslow, who he blamed for his exit from Liverpool, could be a sticking point.

London-based Sawiris has previously supported Arsenal and admires Henry, who now looks set to make the short-list.

Bruce (above), in charge since October 2016, can expect his 12-month rolling contract, worth £1.5million, to be paid up in full.
