Two quizzed over death of man found drowned in river
TWO people were quizzed yesterday over the murder of a vulnerable man they are suspected of drowning.
Joe Pooley, 22, was found in the River Gipping in Ipswich, Suffolk, in August.
His death was initially treated as unexplained but officers have now launched a murder probe. A postmortem said the likely cause of death was immersion in water.
Mother Sam Nicholls described Joe as a “beautiful young lad” who had learning difficulties. Sam said: “Joe suffered a lot of bullying due to his vulnerability. “Sadly, Joe was taken from me in circumstances that no mother should experience and I still have more questions than answers.” Police arrested a man and woman, both 28, on Monday on suspicion of murder. They are currently held at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.
