Take a tip, and help!

■ Is there no end to the ways that this out of touch Tory Government fails to prioritise the “just about managing” wage earners in this country?

It is only now, after a long time in office, that the Prime Minister sees the sense that staff working in restaurants and other eateries should be able to receive the full benefit of gratuities left by customers, rather than the owners of those establishments diverting some of that money into their own pockets.

■ I completely agree with J Butler about people being obsessed with technology (Your Voice, Oct 2). Mobile phones have created a species who can’t bear to drag their eyes away from them and I was also flabbergasted to see people queueing for the latest iPhone.

■ Life will be better under a Labour government because their policies include the poor, not just the rich.

But the best thing is that they bring hope for a better and fairer Britain, and that is what we all desperately need right now.

The Tories have failed due to their obsession with wealth and power for the few. The people deserve better – and a leader who is not afraid of the power of the rich, and who brings equality to all. Irene Sepion, South West London
