16yr murder ID riddle solved

-

A MURDER victim has been identified 16 years after his skeleton was discovered thanks to advances in DNA testing.

Darren Carley’s bones were found on farmland in Charnock Richard, near Chorley in Lancashire, in 2002.

Police launched a murder probe but his identity remained a mystery until the new tests. Darren, 24, went missing from home in Swindon, Wilts, in January 2002.

A postmortem revealed the cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head.

Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Hurst said: “We now have a renewed focus on finding who killed Darren and how his body came to be in Lancashire.”
