ZOE Ball’s dad Johnny has tipped her to be a breakfast show hit.

But he admits while Zoe is broadcasting on Radio 2 he’ll be listening to Radio 4.

Johnny, 80, said: “I do tune into her things. You don’t follow each other religiously.

“It’s just her career and it’s wonderful. When I listen to the radio, it’s Radio 4.” Zoe will be the Breakfast Show’s first female DJ when she takes over from Chris Evans. TV personality and maths whiz Johnny said: “It’s the age of the women.

“She seldom drops a clanger.”

He revealed he had an inkling Zoe, 47, would get the gig. He said: “I met the Director General in the corridor of the Royal Albert Hall a couple of months back and he said, ‘Oh you’re Zoe’s father, we’re very thrilled with her’.” Johnny said landing the job had given Zoe a “tremendous lift” following her boyfriend Billy Yates’s tragic suicide in May last year.
