A Question of BBC snobbery

-

The BBC is holding auditions to find a new presenter for Question Time this weekend at James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGS) in Dulwich, South London.

“Why do they have to do it at a FURY MP Rachel private school?” hit out at Beeb tweeted Labour MP Rachel Reeves. “Loads of fantastic state schools would love to host an event like that.”

Local councillor Victoria Mills tweeted the show had denied “100s of fab Southwark kids interested in politics & media having access to great event & being inspired”. Another missed opportunity for state schools – where access to arts and politics is so much harder to come by.

Yesterday we told the story 6

of two Ritz decorating staff – 13 years in the job – being dismissed with nothing. In a hotel where suites start at £820 a night. The Ritz says it didn’t employ them directly. But when the Mirror tried to trace who actually employed them, we were passed through FOUR different companies.

Welcome to sham selfemployment where workers are treated exactly like employees but have no rights. I, for one, will definitely be boycotting the Ritz.
