Pay cut blow for 1,700 B&Q night workers
B&Q store MORE than 1,700 night staff at B&Q face having to choose between a pay cut or getting the axe.
The shift workers restock shelves while stores are shut but the DIY giant wants to move them to daytime work.
But they will lose their £1.50-an-hour premium for working after 10pm.
Many staff also work nights as it fits in with other commitments.
One worker, who also has a day job, said he will have to take redundancy.
He said: “I don’t see a lot of people swapping to days as it will have an enormous impact financially.”
B&Q’s half-year results show sales are down 2.5%.
The firm said: “We recognise this is a difficult time for some colleagues.”
